When a crane, a piece of earth moving equipment or manufacturing equipment like paper mill rolls are down due to a frozen pin the downstream cost for that down time can run into thousands of dollars. Oxylance exothermic cutting systems have cut downtime from many hours or even days to under an hour.
We have had customers remove a 4” diameter X 12” bearing shaft from a paper mill roller in as little as 15 minutes. Their previous method required removing the 18” diameter X 16’ long roll from the machine and transporting it to a machine shop to mill out the frozen shaft. The time to complete this job was cut from over 100 man hours down to about 6 man hours and the machine was back in service the same day. This was accomplished without removing the roll from the machine.
Cracked welds in bull dozer blades and rock crusher machinery can be gouged out in minutes with a Sure Cut system and a bottle of oxygen. Carbon Arc gouging requires a large welding machine an air compressor and a highly skilled welder and is a very slow noisy process. After the cracks are gouged out with a carbon arc gouger the surface has to be ground out to remove the excess carbon from the process. Sure Cut rods takes minutes, leaves no carbon residue and can be welded over right away.
